If you started your Amazon FBA business and want to rank your product fast, you need to have sells. The fastest way to get exposure and boost some sells is by running ads to put your product in front of the right people. Without that you will not be able to sell or make profit for your product for a long time.
Every item needs a little push start. That’s what buying advertising is all about. You buy advertising to get people to purchase your products. When they do, you automatically increase in the search rankings.
There are literally millions of products in Amazon. Without making some sales through amazon ppc, you will get very little organic traffic if it’s not on the first page. The further back it is in the rankings, the less traffic you’re going to get. Products listed several pages back may receive very little to absolutely no traffic at all.
That is why you need focus on mastering amazon PPC. Now there is two types of Advertisement in Amazon. One is Auto Bids and another is Manual Bids. Auto bids ads is where you tell amazon to make the decision to who will see the product based on your amazon listing, and description. But in Manual Bids Ads you determine your own destiny.
There are few steps that you have to take before you can start placing manual bids ads on Amazon. You have to do some keyword research in and find targeted kewords in for your product that you are selling. Also, you have to be knowledgable about how to adjust the budget and optimize the keywords. Don’t worry you will learn all that here today so read the blog multiple time if you have to.
What Is Manual Bids Ads:
Manual Bids Ads are when you tell amazon which keywords you want amazon to show you product for. Its similar to Google Ads where you target various product related keywords and pay google only to show your product when someone search that term.
So the first thing you have to do, is find the keywords that people are searching for which is related to your product you are selling. Now you don’t have to worry about finding all the keywords people are searching for. Instead you should use tools that makes it easy for you to find keywords.
I use keywords search tool call Marchant Words, which is gives you all the related search term that people are searching in amazon to buy similar product like yours.
The Importance of Merchant Words:
This is another one of those areas where you’re not going to want to scrimp when it comes to not buying the service. It’s a huge mistake to think that you can come up with keywords off of the top of your head. Sure, you can come up with quite a few. Maybe you could even come up with several dozen. You are going to run out of ideas at some point. You’re a human being and not a machine.
reason why you don’t want to skip getting a membership at Merchant Words. They don’t just give you keyword suggestions. They also tell you how many searches each of those keywords get. This is vital information that you need. You very well could end up choosing some keywords off of the top of your head that get almost no traffic at all. This isn’t an area where you can blindly go at it.
You want to target people searching for your item. For example, if you are selling garlic press, then your key search term should be “Garlic Press” and you should take associated keywords that also search by your potential buyers. Make sure take the keywords with the volumes so you can put your product in front of potential buyers who is likely to buy your product.
There are two things that you want to keep in mind when it comes to choosing the right keywords. The first thing you’re going to want to do is identify the basic keyword to enter into Merchant Words. For example, this could be swim goggles. By this point you should have an idea of the keywords that your competitors are using. You can easily identify them because they’ll be in their title. Usually the keyword is basically the word describing the item.
You’ll enter your keyword into Merchant Words and it’ll spit out a whole bunch of keywords for you. Save all of these as a .csv file. For those of you who don’t know, you’ll need to open this type of file using spreadsheet software. Microsoft Excel is the most common and Open Office is a free alternative. A spreadsheet is a type of document that has many columns. You’ve probably used these types of files over the years for a multitude of things.
Eliminate the Keywords that Get Less than 500 Searches Per Month:
This is one of those things that you may or may not do. Merchant Words will spit out a lot of keywords. More than you need actually. The reason why you want to choose keywords with more than 500 searches is quite simple really.
Anything less than 500, means there are roughly 20 or less searches per day. Technically, you could make a sale from something that gets less than this amount of searches. But, you have to remember that the list has to be manageable. Just how many are you going to be able to track the bids of? You can always go back and add the others down the line if you so wish. You will find that keywords with low search volumes aren’t really worth your time.
Delete the Keywords that Aren’t Specific to Your Item:
This is another reason why you should eliminate the keywords with less than 500 searches per month. You should manually go through the list and see which keywords don’t fit the item that you’re selling. You will probably end up with a few from the Merchant Words list. You don’t want to waste your money bidding on keywords that will not result in sales at all.
If you’re selling a product for children, you don’t want it to show up in the search results for adults. While this is common sense, some people over look it.
You want your advertising to be focused only on those people who want to buy your items. It’s a waste of money to display your ad to someone who has no intent whatsoever on buying it. No one is going to buy a hat for a male adult if they’re searching for hats for small girls. What man would want a girl’s hat on his head?
While this may not be the best example of why you should clean up your keywords, hopefully it makes sense. Clean up your list and only bid on keywords that your potential customers will be typing into the search bar. A net cast two wide will result in a loss of profit in the long run.
Placing the Manual Bids Ads:
Now explaining the process of place an ads is ver very very complicated. So I created a video for you that will help you to see exactly how I place my manual bids ads, so you can follow me step by step.
There are three different types of keyword matches. There are: Broad, Phrase, and Exact. Let’s talk a little about these and why you should get familiar with them.
This is exactly as it sounds. This is the least specific type of traffic you can buy. This doesn’t mean that it isn’t targeted. It means that of the search criteria, it’s more liberal when it comes to being shown. You may want to use this setting if you’re focusing on keywords that don’t get many searches. For example, those keywords that we talked about that get less than 500 searches per month. Some people make the mistake of thinking that all traffic is good traffic.
You may find that conversions are not as good with this sort of traffic. After all, not all of the people are searching for the exact term. There is no right or wrong answer if you should target potential buyers this way. You may find that the quality of traffic isn’t good enough and it doesn’t warrant spending your money on it. This is not a one size fits all situation. Products with a very low amount of searches may require the use of broad matches. While products with a massive search volume may suffer low conversions because the advertising isn’t targeted enough.
This is where three of the four words will be a match. For example a search result for blue swimming goggles for boys would display swimming goggles for boys. This is an overly simplistic explanation, but you get the point. There is a bit of room for leeway in this situation.
This takes into consideration that what a person exactly wants is not always available. There might not be any blue goggles for boys. Maybe they are all different colors. The buyer may be happy with a yellow pair of goggles. The search phrases shouldn’t be too far off from your keywords. The buyer’s intent is there. Which is what’s the most important.
This in itself is self-explanatory. It is an exact match of the keywords that you entered in. This is one of those things that sound great on paper. This is the most targeted traffic you’ll ever get. It is precise and to the point. The problem is, the search volume may not be there. You may find that much fewer people are searching for the exact phrase. The other two are far less precise. Someone can type in a few other things and your product will be in the results. That’s not the case here.
When is this a good idea? It might be a good idea if you’re targeting a massive number of keywords. Maybe you don’t get rid of all of the searches that are 500 or less per month. You may also get several lists from Merchant Words. This is one of those things you’re going to have to play with. Though, you’ll probably discover that there’s just not enough traffic using this method to justify the effort. It’s all about trial and error in the end.
One Very Important tip About Placing Your Bid:
You’re probably going to want to start out at around $1.50 or so. You may have to go higher than that. Don’t be surprised if your bid ends up being over two dollars. This doesn’t mean that every click is going to cost you two dollars. It just means that this is the amount that you’re bidding up to.
You’ll more than likely pay less than two dollars. But, you put that number there to ensure that you get traffic. It sounds like a lot of money. Just remember this is qualified traffic that buys things. If you keep that in mind, then it’s not too expensive.
Keywords and Advertising Are Important:
This is the lifeblood of your business. It will be until your item picks up steam. This is the process that you must take for Amazon to rank your items in their algorithm. It sounds like a big time pain, but it really isn’t. You’re just going through the process for the first time and it sounds complicated.
If you come at it trying to understand Amazon’s point of view, it’ll make more sense. They just want to list items that sells. When your items sell, then you’ll get free organic traffic. You’ve got to do something to get noticed and advertising is the only way to make it happen.
