Guided locator checks / 08

Rehearse the table states.

Run each path against the fixture above, then translate the same assertions into your Selenium suite.

Test case 01

Language narrowing

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Select Language = Java.
  3. 03Verify only Java courses are visible.

Failure signal: Fails if language filter is not reapplied on change.

Test case 02

Beginner levels only

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Uncheck Intermediate and Advanced.
  3. 03Verify that only Beginner courses are visible.

Failure signal: Fails if unchecked levels still pass the filter.

Test case 03

Numeric enrollment floor

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Open “Min enrollments” dropdown and choose 10,000+.
  3. 03Verify every visible row shows enrollments ≥ 10,000.

Failure signal: Fails if numeric comparison is done as strings.

Test case 04

Stacked Python criteria

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Select Language = Python.
  3. 03Uncheck Intermediate and Advanced.
  4. 04Set Min enrollments = 10,000+.
  5. 05Verify only Python Beginner courses with ≥ 10,000 enrollments are visible.

Failure signal: Fails if incorrect courses are visible.

Test case 05

Empty result handling

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Select a combination that yields no matches (e.g., Language with Level that does not exist).
  3. 03Verify “No matching courses.” is shown.

Failure signal: Fails if no-data state does not toggle with filters.

Test case 06

Restore the defaults

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Change any filter.
  3. 03Verify the Reset button becomes visible.
  4. 04Click Reset.
  5. 05Verify Language = Any, all Levels checked, Min enrollments = Any.
  6. 06Verify the Reset button is hidden and all rows are visible.

Failure signal: The check catches reset logic that leaves a stale filter or keeps the reset control visible.

Test case 07

Enrollment ordering

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Set Sort by = Enrollments.
  3. 03Verify visible rows are ordered from smallest to largest enrollment.
  4. 04Verify numbers with commas sort correctly.

Failure signal: Fails if the sort is lexicographic.

Test case 08

Course-name ordering

  1. 01Open page.
  2. 02Set Sort by = Course Name.
  3. 03Verify visible rows are ordered A→Z by course name.
  4. 04Verify order updates after changing filters.

Failure signal: The check catches inconsistent text comparison after the visible set changes.
